Wednesday doesn’t ask for applause.
It’s the quiet gearshift between ambition and exhaustion,
the bureaucratic limbo where meetings multiply
and coffee becomes ritual, not remedy.

It’s the day that wears a tie but forgets to iron it.
The day that says, “We’re halfway there,”
but doesn’t say where there is.

In the Balkan calendar of moods,
Wednesday is a cousin of četvrtak—
always preparing for something, never quite arriving.
It’s the ajvar simmering but not yet jarred,
the tattoo sketch still missing its final line.

At KU, Wednesday is when workflows pretend to behave.
SharePoint permissions almost make sense.
Power Automate runs without passive aggression.
And someone finally replies to that email from Monday
with a “per my last message” that feels like a Balkan proverb.

But Wednesday is also generous.
It gives us the chance to revise, reframe,
to turn a task list into a comic strip,
to find poetry in the process log.

So here’s to Wednesday:
The day that doesn’t sparkle, but holds the scaffolding.
The day that lets us be both tired and clever.
The day that reminds us—
even in the middle of the mess,
we’re still the authors of this week.
